
The 1885 S Morgan silver dollar coin is designed by George T. Morgan, in the measurement of 38.1 millimeters in the diameter and weight of 26.73 grams. It has a metal content of 90 percent of silver and 10 percent of copper. This is a San Francisco mint that the letter S is beneath the bow in the reverse. The optimal collecting grade of this 1885 S is the MS-64. It has also a circulation strike mintage of 1,497,000. The 1885 S dollar coins are fits into the medium scarce. Most have some flatness at the centers of the obverse and the center of the reverse. Some have excellent strikes that exist of 1885 S and most are with attractive luster. Quantities of 1885 S were stored for years at the San Francisco Mint. Bags were paid out during the Treasury release of 1962 through 1964 but not many in comparison to the deluge of the New Orleans coins....
